"How does one man assert his power over another, Winston?" Winston thought. "By making him suffer," he said.
"Power is in inflicting pain and humiliation. Power is in tearing human minds to pieces and putting them together in new shapes of your own choosing."
"The old civilizations claimed that they were founded on love or justice. Ours is founded upon hatred. In our world there will be no emotions except fear, rage, triumph, and self-abasement."
That's just a sample from page 336. We are watching in real time as our culture, all of Western Civilization, is being attacked by the most evil forces that walk the planet. They've cracked the human code, know us better than we know ourselves, and our using highly sophisticated propaganda warfare to break us down, tearing our minds to pieces.
You see it everywhere, the dumbing down, the lack of civility, the emotional outrage at the slightest inconvenience or difference of opinion. We are in a closed system, having this propaganda bull-horned at us daily.
Stronger minds are better able to weather this onslaught, but weaker minds are folding, bending and breaking under the weight of the constant psychological warfare being aimed at them.
